OAB -DF Approves Protocol on Racism in Football – 08/24/2025 – Panel

The sectional of the Federal District of (Brazilian Bar Association) approved on Thursday (21) a protocol that proposes legal parameters for the (Superior Court of Sports Court of Football) to speed up the judgment of cases of racism and racial injury in football.

The intention is that the sports court will be more agile and rigorous when enjoying cases of racism, considering the seriousness of acts and their social impact. The protocol was attended by the Racial Equality Commission and the Sectional Sports Law Commission.

Among the principles is that judicial action should consider “that black people in football are subject to multiple oppressions, or intersectoral discrimination, combined of race, class, regional origin, gender and other applicable.”

In addition to racism, the protocol also covers conduct based on prejudice or intolerance, acts of physical, psychological or symbolic violence motivated by nationality, anti -Semitism, Islamophobia, disability and age, among others.

“In football, one of the greatest symbols of national identity, there can be no room for discrimination. With racism, there is no game,” said sectional president Paulo Maurício Siqueira, known as Poli.
