The Russian Foreign Minister said in an interview that the security of Ukraine should be guaranteed by a group of states, which will be consisted of, among other things, members of the UNSC – the United Kingdom, China, France, Russia and the United States. According to him, such a group could include Germany, Turkey or other countries.
“The guarantors would guarantee the safety of Ukraine, which must be neutral, must not be a member of any military block and must not own nuclear weapons,” the Russian Ministry of Foreign Lavrova quoted. He added that for Russia, Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance is unacceptable and that Moscow is asking guarantees to protect Russian -speaking people in Ukraine. According to Lavrov, there is also a discussion of territorial changes between Moscow and Kiev.

Lavrov for NBC News also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump also spoke about the security guarantees for Ukraine at Alaska. According to him, Putin drew attention to the unsuccessful negotiations in Istanbul in 2022 during the discussion, where Russia and Ukraine discussed the permanent neutrality of Kiev in exchange for security guarantees from five permanent members of the UNSC.
Reuters reported last week that Putin was demanding from Ukraine to give up the entire Donbas region, renounced the ambitions to join NATO, remained neutral and did not let her territory of western countries.
