New fashion clothes produce companies faster than we prosecute what is “in”. Fortunately, anything is worn, so we can choose. Worse, what is happening with all this clothes. We drown in world overproduction, not only for the greed, but also due to lower quality materials.

Fast Fashion attracts us to endless new collections and affordable pieces, but at what price? Are you indifferent to what you wear, or you don’t care, but you can’t spend?

When you imagine making one jeans, you may only think of an ordinary piece of fabric. But in fact, there is a lot of water, energy and human work behind it. About 2,700 liters of water is consumed on one single cotton shirt. Add to this chemicals and carbon dioxide emissions that arise during production and transport. Fast fashion thus burden the planet more than we would guess. Not to mention that some producers do not care for EU limits and other targets of sales.

Slow Fashion can be a spout

Slow Fashion is different. Instead of mass production of cheap pieces that break up after a few wear, they bet on quality, long life and fair conditions for humans and planet. It buys slower, more thoughtful and knowing that each T -shirt has its story, from growing cotton to the last stitch. And instead of ten cheap jackets you prefer to buy one that will survive and still look good in the photos.

However, quality materials and fair time and work will be reflected in the price. They are often very expensive products. But it’s not a rule. Slow fashion can be a mouthpiece.

Chisels or secondhands are a treasury of unique pieces that just wait for the second chance. And unfortunately there are decreasing in the Czech Republic. You don’t just buy clothes here, You buy a story, style and the opportunity to express yourself differently. As they say, it is already loved clothes.

Choose quality, combine and edit

How to do it? Before you choose, look at the material. Look for pieces that are made of quality substances that last. Do not be afraid to adjust your clothes, sometimes just shorten your sleeves, add patches or even combine more pieces together. Learning the basics of sewing is a great investment, but sometimes smart styling is enough.

However, the approach will vary a bit. If you do not pursue sewing, look for your right size and clothes that fit. In the case of overwork of the garment, calmly focus on excessive or significantly larger clothing. You can not only reduce them adequately, but also completely sew and give clothing not only a different shape but also a purpose. You can have simple blouses, but also shirts or skirts or shorts.
