René Benko will be in front of the Innsbruck Criminal Court in around six weeks. The founder of the Signa Group, which was fallen over at the end of 2023, is said to have assets assets aside and thus damaged its creditors. Benko denies this, and the presumption of innocence applies to him. In around two dozen other procedural strands, the economic and corruption prosecutor (WKStA) is still investigating-whereby a question always arises: What role did Benko play in the signa societies and in the foundations he (co-) founded such as Laura Private Foundation and the Benko Private Foundation family? Did he have the say there and is he responsible for it? Benko himself denies this and also points out that he does not hold any functions in the committees. Ex-Federal Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer, who also headed the supervisory board of the Signa Kern Societies Prime and Development, had chair of the Signa Holding advisory board.
