Drop tasty, also known as Rydz Czerwony or Fudge, is a common fungus found in Poland. The fruiting bodies appear from June to October. This species is quite easy to identify and it is difficult to confuse it with other specimens. One of its biggest advantages is the taste.

These mushroom has two characteristics that allow it to be quickly distinguished from others: smell and milk. The most characteristic feature is the aroma he secreted by him, which can be compared to the sip of herring. In addition, after damage to the plaques and the shaft, it begins to secrete a white milk, which does not change color in the air, but in time it can become gray.

Drop tasty usually reaches a diameter of 5 to 15 cm. Young specimens have slightly rolled up the edges of the hat, the older ones become flat and the dent in the middle appears. The fungus is red -orange, yellow -yard or orange -brown. The plates are quite thick, at first they have a white color, later they become light yellow. The core reaches a height of 6 to 12 cm with a thickness of 1-3.5 cm. It is brighter than a hat and smooth.

It is worth looking for it in coniferous and deciduous forests, after rainy days. It appears from the end of June to around October. He prefers shaded, moist places (he eagerly grows under the leaves and around the moss). Most often it appears under oaks, hornbeams, pine trees and spruces. When picking up, watch out for a baking tray and a shaft so that the milk does not start leaking from it.

This mushroom can be eaten too raw with the addition of salt, but it is not very popular. It is much more often undergoing heat treatment, which allows for the extraction of nut flavor notes. What can you do with a tasty milk? There are many possibilities, it is suitable for frying, choking and cooking. One of the easiest ways is to fry it with onions and carrots. For this you will need:

  • 300 g of tasty milk
  • 1 small onion (preferably salad)
  • 1 average carrot
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

The onion should be cut into strips and carrots into thin slices. Clean the mushrooms and cut larger ones into several parts. Fry everything in a hot pan with butter for a few minutes, until the mushrooms brown and the carrots are softened. Season to taste with salt and pepper before the end of frying.
