Update | Increases to 15 the number of deaths in the Israeli attack against Nasser hospital in Jan Yunis
Por: Joan Cabasses (Beirut) Successive Israeli attacks against the Nasser hospital, in the southern town of Khan Younis, have killed at least 15 people, among which at least four were journalists, according to the Gaza government press office.
The British Agency Reuters and the Catarí Al Jazeera media have confirmed that two of the journalists between the victims worked for them. Multiple journalists in the strip operate near hospitals in an attempt to get access to electricity and the Internet in a territory whose infrastructure is devastated after two years of Israeli offensive.
Shortly after an incident, a reporter from Al Jazeera, Hind Khoudary, has explained live from the nearby town of Deir El Balah while fighting against the crying that a suicide drone would have detonated on the roof of the hospital when two people, including a reporter, were in the place. According to that version, when informants and rescuers have come to understand what had happened and attend to the victims, another Israeli attack has caused more victims among the group.
The four dead reporters in the attack are Hossam al Masri, from the Reuters agency; Mohammed Salama, Al Jazeera photographer; Mariam Abu Daqa, AP collaborator; and Moaz Abu Taha, US television reporter NBC. One of the victims was a mother.
This attack occurs two weeks after another Israeli bombardment killed five informants in the accesses of the Shifa hospital in Gaza City. Since 2023, Israel has killed more than 244 reporters, sometimes recognizing the attacks and ensuring without providing evidence that the victims were members or supporters of Hamas.
