Most Brazilians consider the house arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to be fair, according to a genius/Quaest poll released on Monday (25). According to the survey, 55% support the measure determined by Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court (STF), while 39% consider it unfair. Another 6% did not know or did not want to answer.
The arrest was decreed on August 4 after Bolsonaro breaking precautionary measures, including restrictions on social networking use and participation in public events.
The survey also pointed out that 57% of respondents believe that the former president participated in a video call in act with supporters to provoke Moraes. Only 30% said he did not understand the rules imposed well and made a mistake. The other 13% could not give their opinion.

The survey listened to 2,004 people 16 years or older between August 13 and 17. The margin of error is two percentage points.
The answers were collected, therefore, even before the Federal Police (PF) concluded that during the period when it was already forbidden to use social networks, including third party profiles.
According to the PF, on August 3, the date on which manifestations were favorable to the former president throughout Brazil, Bolsonaro sent supporters videos with public events and on the application of the magnitsky law against Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
