The PT National Directory approved last Saturday (23) a political resolution in which he accuses US President Donald Trump of conducting an offensive against the sovereignty of Brazil. The text mentions risks of intervention in various areas, including the displacement of US military troops to South America.

According to the document, “Brazil is now experiencing a deep attack on its sovereignty, articulated by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, in the name of his imperialist and far-right policy, characteristic of fascist thinking.”

The resolution states that the actions of Trump and allies in Brazil include economic, political and strategic dimensions. One of the excerpts mentions that “the displacement of military troops to the coast of South America, the insinuations of the sovereignty of the Fernando de Noronha archipelago and the Parnamirim Air Base, the censorship and monitoring of Brazilian scientists and researchers, the attack on the Pix and the threats to the rare lands (…) make the authoritarian, undemocratic and interventionist character of this attack of this attack, Bolsonarism and part of the Brazilian right. ”

The party maintains that the offensive would also have an electoral component. “What Trump and his allies on the Brazilian right intend, and will not succeed, is to defeat, in the 2026 elections, the national development project we are consolidating under the leadership of President Lula,” says the text.

The resolution accuses Jair Bolsonaro and nearby political leaders to support external measures against Brazil. “The support of Bolsonaro and leaders of the Brazilian right to Trump’s sanctions against Brazil highlights its anti -nation and antipatriotic character,” the document says.

The PT has linked the reaction to what it classifies as foreign attacks on the measures adopted by the executive. Among them, he cites the release of emergency credit and stimuli to market diversification. “The measures recently announced by the Lula administration to protect the Brazilian economy and people from Trump government attacks show commitment and effectiveness,” the text records.

In resolution, the PT defends the construction of political and social alliances in defense of sovereignty and democracy. “Defeating fascism is not just a task of the PT and the left, but of all Brazilian society that defends national interests,” the document concludes.
