On the morning of Monday (25), Atletico officialized the arrival of defender Ruan Tressoldi, 26. The player, who belongs to Sassuolo, from Italy, was loaned to the Minas Gerais club, with a contract valid for 12 months and purchase option at the end of the bond.
Before landing in Belo Horizonte, Ruan was loaned to Sao Paulo, where he acted between mid -2024 and July this year. In the period, the defender played 23 matches with the tricolor shirt.
Career of Ruan Tressoldi
Ruan Tressoldi Netto was born on June 7, 1999, in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul. The career began in the grassroots categories of Grêmio, a club where he took his first steps as a defender. Ruan quickly stood out at the tricolor base, being promoted to the professional cast in 2018.
There, the defender acted more constantly from 2020. Despite the strong competition in the defensive sector, he managed to gain space and participated in important championships such as the Brazilian Championship, the Brazilian Cup and the Copa Libertadores. At Grêmio, he added almost 50 matches.
In the second half of 2021, Ruan was negotiated with Sassuolo, from Italy. The negotiation turned around 5 million euros. In the European country, the defender alternated moments as a starter and reserve, with experiences against high -level teams such as Juventus, Milan and Inter Milan.
In mid -2024, Ruan returned to Brazil to reinforce the São Paulo cast on loan. In the São Paulo team, the defender played 23 matches, including Brazilian Championship, Libertadores and the Brazilian Cup.

When can Ruan debut for the Rooster?
The name of Ruan Tressoldi is expected to appear in the CBF IDB in the coming hours. This makes him able to wear the Rooster shirt from the bureaucratic point of view. However, the defender is still recovering from a right knee arthroscopy, which should postpone the official debut.
The medical department of the Minas Gerais club evaluates the evolution of the player, who still needs to achieve the ideal conditioning to return to the lawns.
The last time Ruan entered the field was on May 20, against Náutico for the Brazilian Cup. From medical release and registration in CBF and Conmebol systems, the player may be related to the upcoming Rooster commitments.
Ruan cannot act for the Brazilian Cup
Despite the hit with Atletico-MG, Ruan will not be able to compete in the current edition of the Brazilian Cup for the new club. This is because, during the passage through Sao Paulo, the player entered the field in two matches of the Brazilian Cup.
According to the new CBF rule, a player can defend two clubs in the same edition of the Brazilian Cup, but only if he has played before the beginning of the third phase. As Ruan played exactly at this stage, he is out of the exception.
Article 7 of Chapter 3 of the Regulation indicates that the registration of athletes who worked by another club until the second phase of the competition is only allowed. With this, Ruan’s participation by Atlético-MG in the tournament is vetoed.

Ruan’s situation in Brasileirão and in South American
Despite the limitation in the Brazilian Cup, Ruan Tressoldi could normally act for Atletico in the Brazilian Championship. This is because he has participated in only five Serie A matches for Sao Paulo, while the regulation allows players with up to six games to be transferred and play for another team in the same edition.
The athlete is also released to play in the South American Cup, even though he played in five of the six group stage games with Sao Paulo.
With this, the defender is available to Atletico for the clashes against Bolivar, Bolivia, valid for the quarterfinals of the South American. The deadline for registration of athletes for this phase runs until 6 pm on September 12th.
