The Transport Decarbonization Coalition, launched in May this year, gained a new breath in the pre-COP30 period. The group, formed by companies, sectoral entities and academy, foresees up to R $ 600 billion in investments to cut the projected sector emissions by up to 70% by 2050.

Transport accounts today for about 11% of the gross emissions in Brazil. The coalition plan brings together 90 actions, between revision of the logistics matrix, expansion of the use of biofuels and acceleration of fleet electrification, taking advantage of the country’s low carbon electrical matrix.

The news is that the sectoral agenda will circulate in some of the main international climate forums. Motiva, one of the coalition’s coalition, has partnered with the World Climate Foundation to expand the group’s presence in meetings such as Rio Climate Action Week, New York Climate Week and Belém’s side-end.

“This strategic collaboration with World Climate Foundation strengthens our actions and reaffirms our ambition to play a role in protagonism in the sustainability agenda of the mobility infrastructure sector. We want to sensitize stakeholders for the urgency of the theme and to highlight the opportunities of the transition to a low carbon economy,” says the vice president of sustainability, risks and compliance with motiva, Pedro Sutter.

“Sectoral coalitions are important mechanisms for accelerating decarbonization with data based on data and targeted solutions, through scalable actions that have the ability to encompass chains as a whole. As the transportation sector is linked to the Brazilian economy, the coordinated actions for decarbonization will be fundamental for the country to reach its goals in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.” From WCF in Brazil, Flora Bitancourt.

Transportation is considered one of the most challenging sectors in climate transition, as it depends on complex supply chains and long -term investments. Coalition study shows that fleet electrification can be represented alone the reduction of 145 million tons of CO₂ by 2050, while new generation biofuels, such as green diesel and aviation SAF, can be responsible for another 45 million.

The proposal of the group is that these measures are incorporated into the regulatory debate, especially in the national plan on climate change, which the federal government must present in Belém.
