The United States Vice President JD Vance said this Sunday that it is not ruled out to impose new sanctions on Russia to pressure President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
“No, the sanctions are not ruled out. But we will make these decisions case by case,” Vance said in an interview to the NBC medium. The vice president noted that the Russians do not want a high fire for complex reasons.
“We, of course, have pressed for a stop the fire. But, I insist, we do not control what Russia does. If we did, the war would have ended seven months ago. However, what we do believe is that we continue to have many letters in the hand. The president of the United States has many letters to play to press and try to put an end to this conflict, and that is what we are going to do,” he added.
In this sense, Vance said that he continues to trust that the United States can negotiate the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine, since they have seen “some significant concessions of both parties, only in recent weeks.”
