The president of, (SP), made a direct invitation to the governor of São Paulo, to be a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic next year. The federal deputy mentioned the governor as eventual presidential, “if the conjuncture allows”. Republicans hold an event to commemorate the 20 years of party on Monday in Brasilia.
“Next year we will have general elections, we will be one of the few parties to exist after the elections. To do so, we will expand our benches of state and federal deputies and senators. And who knows, if the conjuncture of events allows, we will have a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic. Isn’t it, Tarcisio?”
Senator Damares Alves (Republicans-DF), the ally of former President Jair Bolsonaro, has endorsed Marcos Pereira’s speech and said the party could have a presidential candidate. “The party has already had two vice-presidents, it is almost time to have a president,” he said. Allies of the governor has said that his national candidacy depends on the endorsement of former President Jair Bolsonaro, as well as the support of the other right-wing parties. PP, União Brasil, PSD and part of the MDB already mention Tarcisio as a consensus name to be representative of the center right next year.
