Germany is renewing the resettlement program for endangered Afghans. This process has been blocked, stuck in Pakistan, who plans to expose them.
Germany plans to enable the country to enter the Afghans, which it is committed to adopting, but blocked this process at home a few months ago. These Afghans have stuck in Pakistan, trying to send them to Germany. The German daily Die Welt reported on Tuesday, TASR writes according to Reuters report.
As part of the program for persons at risk of Taliban’s government in Afghanistan, approximately 2,000 Afghancoms were approved resettlement to Germany. However, after the freezing of this program, to which Berlin proceeded as part of the new government’s commitment to limit migration, they were stuck for several months in neighboring Pakistan.
The decision of the courts
In an effort to abolish the decision of the German government, the courts approached human rights groups as well as dozens of affected citizens of Afghanistan. In some cases, the courts decided in their favor, which, according to Reuters, increased the pressure on Berlin to act on this matter.
The urgency of the situation has also increased the Pakistan plan to expel the documented Afghan refugees since 1 September – including those who are included in the resettlement program to Germany.
Renewal of the program
Die Welt, referring to sources from the Federal Government, wrote that the Afghan families concerned had been informed of the restoration of the program and the first of them should arrive in Germany in the coming days.
According to Welt, the German government plans to get Afghans into the country in a discreet way – regular commercial flights with Dubai or Istanbul flags. The exact number of people who are permitted to leave but remain unclear. The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs only confirmed that verification procedures are being renewed and that officials were sent to Pakistan to continue processing cases, the German daily added.
Millions of Afghans fled to Pakistan over the last four decades, for example, after the Soviet invasion in 1979 or after the re -taking of the Taliban government in 2021.
