Israeli army chief Eyal Zamir has intensified his warnings about plans to occupy her city, calling on the prime minister to accept a proposal to release the remaining, according to Israeli media reports.

“There is an agreement on the table, it is the improved Whitkov deal, we have to accept it,” Zamir told commanders during a Naval Base in Haifa, according to the Israeli television network Channel 13.

The army leader referred to a proposal negotiated by US special envoy Steve Whitkov, who provides a ceasefire for 60 days, during which ten living hostages will be released in return for the release of Palestinian prisoners.

“The army has created the terms of an agreement for the hostages, now it is in the hands of Netanyahu,” Zamir continued.

He reiterated his concern that the planned occupation of the city of Gaza would endanger the lives of the 20 remaining hostages that are still believed to be alive, some of whom are believed to be held in the city.

He warned that fighters of the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas could murder hostages or “commit suicide with them”.

In their official statement on the attack, Israeli defense forces only said that Zamir said the army had created the conditions for the liberation of hostages through military pressure.

As he was asked, Zamir drafted the operational plans for the occupation of the city of Gaza, which have been approved by the country’s political leadership.

Another 60,000 backers have been called upon to appear in September.

However, the army leader allegedly criticized the government’s decision to occupy the city, where about one million people live.

Hamas said last week that she had agreed to a new ceasefire proposal, which is said to be a modified version of the Witkov proposal.
