At a ministerial meeting, president criticized Eduardo Bolsonaro for supporting American tariffs, defended the deputy’s cassation and reinforced defense of national sovereignty
The president criticized on Tuesday (26) the actions of the former president and son (PL-SP) in the United States. In a ministerial meeting at Planalto Palace, Lula classified Eduardo’s behavior as “one of the greatest betrayals a homeland suffers from his children”, due to the deputy’s support for 50% tariffs imposed on Brazilian products. “I made a relationship of the greatest traitors in human history. What is happening today in Brazil with the former president’s family and with his son’s behavior in the United States is possibly one of the greatest betrayals a homeland suffers from his children,” said the president.
Lula added that Eduardo Bolsonaro should have already been expelled from, accusing him of “inflating with lies and hypocrisy another state against the national state of Brazil”. The chief executive also stated that the country accepts cordial relationships with other nations, but does not admit “nobody’s disaffection, offenses and petulance.”
“If we liked Emperor, Brazil would still be a monarchy. We want this democratic, sovereign and republican country, which we learned to build,” Lula said.
US and Sovereign Brazil Plan
The ministerial meeting aimed to take stock of the government and to design priorities by 2026, including the alignment of the Executive’s speech against the United States, which entered into force on 6 August. A week later, the government launched the Brazil Sovereign Plan, with emergency measures to alleviate the impacts, such as job maintenance, partial tax return paid by companies and purchase of perishable food for schools, hospitals and the Armed Forces.
Sensitive themes: social networks and defeat at INSS CPMI
Lula should also deal with the regularization of social networks, with a project to be sent soon to Congress, and the recent defeat of the government in CPMI that will investigate fraud in the INSS. The expectation of the Planalto was to indicate allies to chair and report the commission, but the base lost positions after opposition articulation, which was supported by government allies, including União Brasil and progressives.
