The baths in Matosinhos Beach, in the district of Porto, have been in advanced since Tuesday due to the microbiological contamination of water, according to the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).
The baths are advised against because the analyzes revealed the presence of pathogenic bacteria (‘Escherichia col’ and intestinal enterococci) in the waterrevealed to the Portuguese source of the captaincy of the Porto do Douro.
This is the fourth time since the start of the bathing season that the baths are advised against in Matosinhos Beach, according to information from the National Water Resources Information System (Snirh).
In 2024, the water from Matosinhos Beach was classified as bad, after 2023 was considered acceptable and in 2022 as good.
In the municipality of Matosinhos, in the Porto district, the Balnear epoch started on June 14 and ends on September 14.
