President Donald Trump said on Monday that he discussed nuclear disarmament with Vladimir Putin. He told reporters that Russian President “is willing to do this,” and believes China will also go the same way.
“One of the things we are trying to do with Russia and China is denuclearization, and that’s very important – one of the things I discussed with President Putin there, that’s not all, there were also other issues – and I think denuclearization is a great game,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Hall. “But Russia is willing to do that, and I think China will be willing too. We can’t let nuclear weapons proliferate. We have to stop nuclear weapons.”
Trump had already expressed concern about Russia’s nuclear abilities after former Russian President. When Medvedev warned of Russia’s nuclear abilities early this summer (Northern Hemisphere), Trump called his comments “The Ultimate Threat” in an interview with the conservative Newsmax vehicle.
At the time, Trump also responded to Medvedev’s comments to “the appropriate regions.”
The White House refused to comment when the CNN He asked if the government intends to seek a formal agreement of nuclear disarmament with Russia and China, referring to Trump’s public statements.
