The result in Rio de Janeiro entered the history of Brazilian football. It was the largest rout ever recorded in the Brazilian Championship since the adoption of the running points format in 2003, and became the worst defeat of Vitória in official competitions.

Flamengo dominated the match since the first minutes and built the victory with two goals from Samuel Lino, three from Pedro and Luiz Araújo, Bruno Henrique and Arrascaeta with a goal each. The triumph kept the Rio team in the lead of Brasileirão, with 46 points, four more than Palmeiras, deputy leader.
The result represents the official matches throughout history. The brand surpassed the 7-2 suffered against Athletico-PR, in 2001, at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba.
