The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), returned to defend on Monday, 25, in the program RodAmnesty to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for the accusation of attempted coup. He also said that the Brazilian judiciary pursues right-wing politicians and bets that the candidates in this field will be united in the second round of the 2026 presidential election-Zema launched his candidacy for office last August 16.
“We need to pacify Brazil. We have already given amnesty in the past to killers, kidnappers, now we’re not going to be amnesty in this case?” Said the chief executive of Minas Gerais, adding that today “clearly” right -wing people are persecuted by the courts and that the trial against Bolsonaro is not impartial. “Where are the prisoners of Petrolão, the monthly? Questioned by the policy coordinator of the Estadão In Sao Paulo, Ricardo Corrêa, Zema also said that in his interpretation there was no attempt to coup in Brazil because there was no support from the Armed Forces or militias. “I interpret all this as a manifestation, riot and dissatisfaction,” he added, referring to January 8.

Zema was asked about recent statements in which he argues that homeless people are treated similar to parked cars in forbidden places – vehicles are squealed. He said it is necessary to find a solution, as most of these people do not accept to voluntarily go to therapeutic communities.
“I said that car is not parked in a forbidden place. I said that we need to find a solution for people. People do not squeaze. We need to have a central solution to this problem and the federal government has closed their eyes. We are creating true human fancy in large cities of Brazil by omission of the public sector that is only in this warrior of chasing the opponent,” he said.

The miner also denied that the right will be divided into the 2026 presidential election. Zema reported hearing from Bolsonaro that the more candidates in this field in the first round the better.
