Despite the technological development, a lot of people still reach for ordinary notebooks or notebooks. In addition, most documents need to be signed manually. According to Korean superstition, this should not be done in one color. Why? Because it can get a lot of bad luck on us.

This superstition is widespread in both Korea and Japan. It concerns saving someone’s name, e.g. in a notebook or on documents. At the same time, it can also apply to people who sign their own names on their own and surname. Everything comes down to one color of ink, which according to beliefs is to bring a lot of bad luck. Interestingly, items in this color are not only associated with unlucky, in many cultures they are perceived as happy and joyful. What color are we talking about?

The Japanese and Koreans consider writing someone’s name and surname in red as bad omen. Why? Because it is associated with unlucky and departure. This is related to saving the names on the tombstones, which are prepared during life – then the names and surnames are black, after the person’s departure they change into red.

Interestingly, centuries ago Samurai wrote letters with red ink when they wanted to challenge someone for a duel. In addition, official documents are written in black ink, and corrections are applied. Saving someone’s name in red can be picked up for a manifestation of disrespect.
