The healthy food production sector will receive R $ 60 million in non -refundable resources for family farming cooperatives through bioinsums. According to the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the resources aim to production and “multiplication of accessible and replicable bioinsums”. Made from microorganisms, vegetable, organic waste, bioinsums are important in soil fertilization and promotion of sustainable agriculture. They also act as pest predators and promote the growth, development and health of agricultural systems, animals, aquacolas and forests. The initiative has the technical support of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa).

The idea is to encourage the production and multiplication of bioinsums in industrial or semi-industrial units, enabling the “technological transition to the use of bioproducts in an integrated way to agroecosystems in the production of healthy foods”. For this, BNDES will make a public call, with priority for the North and Northeast regions.

“BNDES BIOINSUMS meets two historical government commitments: in addition to contributing to the increase in healthy food production, ensuring food and nutritional sovereignty, this initiative strengthens the generation of family farming cooperatives, expanding access to lower costs and higher productivity,” said the president of BNDES,.
