They took place at a school next to the Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with two young children aged 8 and 10 years falling dead.

The incident took place around 8:30 am On Wednesday (local time), when police officers were called for an armed perpetrator on 509 W 54th Street.

The courses of the Catholic School started this week.

The perpetrator shot with a rifle from the windows of the building, and brought other weapons with him.

The man committed suicide in the back of the church.

Two children in critical condition

In total, 17 people were injured by the attack, including 14 children.

Two of them are in critical condition.

Pyrotechnicians rushed to the spot, as there were reports of an explosive mechanism inside the building.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said that he is “watching reports of horrible violence in southern Minneapolis”.

“I am in touch with the leader O’Rrah and our emergency team has been ready,” Frey wrote on X. “We will share more information as soon as possible. Please give our policemen the space they need to respond to the situation. “

“I have been informed of shots at the Catholic School of Evangelism and will continue to inform you as I will have more information,” Tim Walts said in a post on X.

“I pray for our children and teachers, whose first week at school was tarnished by this terrible act of violence,” the 41st Governor of Minnesota added.

Donald Trump also mentioned the incident, posting on Truth Social.

The FBI is also involved in the investigations.
