Shooting at a school in Minneapolis claimed three dead, including an attacker. Another 17 people suffered injuries.

Shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, claimed the lives of three people, including the attacker and 17 other people were injured. According to reports of Reuters, AFP and AP and Sky News, TASR reports this.

The municipality of the city announced that the shooter was “disposed of” and there is no “active threat” for the public. The police chief in Minneapolis reported the death of two small children aged eight and ten.

Injuries and evacuation

Sky News states that six children have taken to the hospital and that the shooter died as a result of a gunshot wound he caused himself. The shots from the place showed a crowd of parents waiting for their children. The authorities called on the public not to stay around.

At the time of shooting, the children were at the morning mass in the church in the school area. The shooter opened fire from the outside of the building through the windows. He was armed with a gun, rifle and shotgun.

Governor’s reactions

“I was familiar with the shooting in a Catholic school and I will continue to inform you when we have more information. I pray for our children and teachers whose first week at school was marked by this terrible violent act,” said Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz.

US President Donald Trump said he was informed of the “tragic shooting” and that there were members of the Federal Investigation Office (FBI) on the spot. “The White House will continue to follow this terrible situation. Please join me in prayers for all participants,” he added.
