The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), exchanged praise on Tuesday, 26, with former President Michel Temer (MDB) in a congress promoted by the Paulista Association of Municipalities (APM). In nod to the mayors, the governor made a series of advertisements for transferring resources and equipment to the municipalities and said he will meet at least one demand from each mayor of the state of São Paulo.
In speaking, Temer advised the mayors present to follow the example of Tarcisio and the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB). Then, the governor of São Paulo said that he learned a lot from the former president and that Temer had the courage and wisdom by turning Brazil into a “pro-business” country and implementing important reforms.
“Time and history will do justice to the Lord,” Tarcisio told Temer.

The governor’s compliment occurs the next day to fear being criticized by federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL) on social networks. After the former president declares that Eduardo wants to save Bolsonaro anyway, the deputy recalled that Alexandre de Moraes was nominated by Temer to the Supreme Court (STF).
“We are trying to resolve the immense institutional and political crisis that its sponsors have created in Brazil,” wrote Eduardo in X. The former president’s son, as they showed messages revealed by the Federal Police, has shown discomfort with the possibility of Bolsonaro nominating Tarcisio as his successor.
Temer praised the partnership between Tarcisio and Nunes in the fight against violence, expensive to the electorate according to the latest polls. He pointed out that he frequently follows the joint action in the area of Public Security, noting that this cooperation between them has generated significant results in the fight against crime.

Already Tarcisio also praised former governor Rodrigo Garcia (without party), denoting a rapprochement after the 2022 elections in which he defeated him in the first round and refused his support in the second against Fernando Haddad (PT). “Our Always Governor” and “Great Manager” were some of the compliments used by the Republican. As Estadão showed, Garcia works to be on the plate built by Tarcisio in the 2026 election.
The governor announced that soon he will pass machines, equipment and ambulances to the city hall and will also allocate resources from the SUS Paulista table to municipal hospitals.
“I mean that you can and should count on the government of Sao Paulo,” continued the governor.

With the Paulista Association of Municipalities (APM) in the hands of an ally, the mayor of Campos do Jordão, Fred Guidoni (PSD) it was up to Gilberto Kassab (PSD) to command the event, call authorities to the table and conduct the order of speeches. The leader was also president of APM in the past.
The Congress had a strong municipal bias, with Guidoni defending more transfer to the municipalities and the approval of PEC 25/2022, which increases the value destined to the Municipal Participation Fund (FPM) by 1.5%.
The president of APM delivered a pair of football boots and a “municipal team” shirt to Tarcísio and asked the goalkeeper to face the governor in the soccer match among the mayors let him score goals.

“If you get my kick, there’s no agreement,” joked Tarcisio.
Kassab made a cuddle to Tarcisio, “there is unanimity that the Lord is not just a leader, but hope,” he told the governor. “Under your leadership, where you are, these municipalities will be getting better and better,” added the party leader, who is also secretary of government in Tarcisio management. The governor is quoted to run for presidency, but repeats that he will be a candidate for reelection.
Criticism of the IR exemption project
He also reiterated a critique of the Income Tax Exemption Project (IR) for those who earn up to R $ 5,000 from the government of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), responsible for the petista for the fall in municipal collection. “Exemption of income tax subtracts revenue of municipalities,” he said.
