Kremlin Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that any meeting between Russian and Ukrainian president requires thorough preparation, otherwise it will not make sense. According to him, the summit of Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky is not going.

Any meeting between Russian and Ukrainian president must be well prepared to bring results, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday. According to AFP, he again refused the idea that the summit between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky is likely to take place soon, TASR informs.

I also denied Lavrov last week to take place any preparations

Greens have long called on Putin for a joint meeting that would focus on ending the war in Ukraine. Their meeting is also promoted by US President Donald Trump, who, after negotiations with Putin in Alaska, said that such a meeting is already being prepared. However, Russian diplomacy chief Sergei Lavrov denied last week that there would be any preparations.

“In order to be effective at a high or highest level dialogue, it must be well prepared,” Peskov told journalists about the possibility of increasing the level of negotiating teams of Russia and Ukraine. The head of the delegations is in contact, but the date of further negotiations has not yet been set.

The last direct interviews between Russia and Ukraine took place in June in Turkey. At that time, Putin rejected a Greeny public invitation to a personal meeting and instead sent a lower -level delegation to Istanbul.

Russia continues to deny that it has triggered a conflict and appreciates Donald Trump’s efforts

“Russia is still determined to resolve the conflict in Ukraine preferentially by political and diplomatic means. However, this undoubtedly requires reciprocity by Ukraine,” said Kremlin spokesman, adding that Moscow highly appreciates Trump’s mediation efforts to end the war in Ukraine. “We believe that these efforts are crucial for the settlement of this complex, long -lasting conflict we have not caused,” he added.

European politicians, as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Finnish President Alexander Stubb, believe that Putin, on the instructions of which Russia had launched an invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, is deliberately avoided by meeting Greeny. According to Stubba, this is a “typical” Russian delay tactics.
