The Polish city stunning statistics is empty! He won't have there soon, who lives?
  • Polish cities are struggling with depopulation, which is confirmed by the CSO data.
  • A decrease in the number of births and migrations to smaller towns contribute to this trend.
  • Łódź, despite the recent flourishing, is a city depopulating the fastest.
  • What other cities are losing residents and why?

Why are Polish cities depopus?

Data on the Central Statistical Office does not fill with optimism. Poland is constantly depopulated. Fewer and fewer children are born. In 2024, numerous births were the lowest since World War II. Demographic changes mean that large cities are also depopulated. Many Polish cities lose thousands of inhabitants every year.

Dropping results not only from low birth rates, but also changes in citizens’ habits. Many people decide to leave the city for smaller towns. Seniors often decide to move to the countryside and even live on plots. Young people are also more willing to choose houses in suburban towns. Often for the same money as a flat in a large city, you can buy a medium -sized house in the suburban area.

The Central Statistical Office presented data on depopulation. It turns out that statistics are not satisfactory. At the top of the letter there was a city that until recently experienced its great flourishing. Large companies opened there and tourism flourished. According to GUS data, it is the fastest depopulating city in Poland.

The pace of desertion of Łódź is the highest in the country. In 2002, the city had over 785,000 inhabitants, while in 2023 this number fell to just over 655,000.
