Compensatory measures reach US $ 2.9 billion in Brazilian imports and other business partners

The United States Department of Commerce on Tuesday (26.ago.2025) Anti -Dumping Tariffs and Compensatory Measures on Imported Corrosion Resistant Steel from 10 countries, including Brazil.

The measures reach imports valued at approximately US $ 2.9 billion and vary according to each company and country. Among those affected are: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Arab and Vietnam.

Corrosion resistant steel is used in the manufacture of automotive bodies, appliances, commercial and residential buildings, as well as other applications in civil construction essential for American consumers.

“American steel companies and their workers deserve to compete in equitable conditions”declared William Kimmitt, Undersecretary of Trade for International Trade.

Companies that have not responded to investigations from the Department of Commerce will receive fares based on the application of “available facts” with adverse inferences – a practice that usually results in higher rates.

According to Kimmitt, the administration of Donald Trump (Republican Party) “It will not tolerate products unfairly marketed in the American market”.

The next step is from the US International Trade Commission (ITC), which will decide whether damage to the domestic industry. If ITC confirms the damage, the Trade Department will issue the Definitive Orders (AD/CVD) of anti -dumping and compensatory charges.

Currently, the United States maintains 777 active anti -dumping and compensatory orders. Of these, 40% involve steel and steel products, representing the largest group of commodities under American commercial investigation.
