Americans sent 3 war ships with 4,000 military personnel to the region near the country
Venezuela will start a patrolling operation with ships and drones, according to Vladimir Padrino López, Defense Minister. The measure occurs after the tensions are closed in the region of the border with Colombia and the United States.
Padrino López stated that military reinforcement will cover about 1/3 from the Colombian border and the waters north of the country, but without making it clear if it is a direct response to the US presence in the region.
The action involves 15,000 military personnel under government orders, in addition to 60 urras (rapid reaction units).
“We will have an important Drone Detachment with different missions, citizen service points, exploration and surveillance points, river points and routes with naval infantry in all rivers – specially in Catatumbo, which flows into the Gulf of Venezuela -, naval patrols in Maracaibo Lake and the Gulf of Venezuela, as well as larger northern waters. ”said Godfather.
The minister stated that the operation will be planned quickly and that the commanders will receive the order to act soon.
“We know the territory, we know the geographical conditions and characteristics of the terrorist, armed and drug traffickers who operate on the border and intend to cross to the Venezuelan territory ”he declared.
