Brazil e Mexico On Wednesday (27) signed a memorandum of understanding for agricultural cooperation, the Ministry of Agriculture in note.
The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Sader (Mexico’s Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development) during the Brazilian government’s official mission to the country, led by the vice-president and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Service, Geraldo Alckmin.
The memorandum deals with interests of mutual areas between countries in agricultural and livestock production, technical monitoring of small and medium producers, food sovereignty, animal and plant health, research promotion and technological innovation, financing and rural insurance, as well as instruments that facilitate the commercialization of agricultural products, according to the folder.
Countries pledged to exchange information, technologies and good practices, technical visits and strategic activities for facilitating bilateral trade.
According to the Ministry, from the memorandum will be created a working group with representatives of the technical areas of both countries to identify areas of common interest, plan and implement the agreement.
At the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Farahighlighted the commercial relationship between countries in the flow of agricultural products.
“The opening of the long -awaited beef and swine market in Mexico has already been bringing very positive results to both countries. In Brazil, after the period of consolidation of this opening, private companies began to do business, resulting in a growth of approximately 250% in beef exports by just 2 years and 8 months.
“These advances are beneficial not only for Brazil, but also for Mexico, who, in his food inflation program, finds the opportunity to acquire high quality meats,” the minister added.
