Company ends thermal in Paraíba and anticipates in 5 years Goal expected in the Plan ESG 2030
CPFL Energia announced on Thursday (28.ago.2025) that its Company Generation Matrix began to composed 100% by renewable sources. The milestone was achieved with the closure of UTE (thermoelectric plant) operations EPASA, Paraíba, responsible for 4% of the company’s production.
The decision represents the definitive departure of the company of assets moved to fossil fuels. With the movement, the CPFL reaches the 100% renewable goal 5 years before the expected ES 2030 strategic plan.

Generation structure
The CPFL portfolio is formed by hydroelectric dams, wind farms, biomass and photovoltaic solar plants. The installed capacity has 4,044 MW (Megawatt), being 60% hydroelectric, 35% wind and 5% biomass and solar.
The company maintains a pipeline of over 4.4 GW (Gigawatt) in new projects, all renewable. Among them is the SMP (small hydroelectric plant) Cherobim, in Paraná, inaugurated in January this year, which already integrates the national electrical system.
By 2024, CPFL reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 59% compared to 2021 and reaffirmed the target of carbon neutrality from 2025.
