Czech President Petr Pavel and Prime Minister Petr Fiala agreed on a regular working lunch on the key issues of the Czech Republic’s foreign policy, including an attitude to the situation in the Middle East. This stems from the statements of the Presidential Office and Government, TASR informs. “Our clear consensus on key issues of foreign policy, including a common approach to the Middle East situation, is important not only in terms of stability, but above all it is an advantage for the Czech Republic,” Written by Fiala on Social Network X.
The debate at the Prague Castle took place ten days after Pavel pointed out that his approach to Israel and the politician of the Cabinet of Benjamin Netanyahu is different from the attitude of the Czech government. While the Cabinet of Prime Minister Fiala tends to support Israeli policy almost unconditionally, he does not agree with some steps. Fiala rejected these claims, saying that the government is not looking at the situation “with flaps on the eyes”.
Both politicians also discussed the war in Ukraine, Coordination of foreign roads and representation of the Czech Republic at international events. In addition, they also focused on internal political issues such as the preparation of the state budget for 2026, crisis legislation or defense expenditure.
