Finance Minister Fernando Haddad participated in a press conference at the Ministry of Justice on Thursday (28) to talk about Federal Police operations. Haddad stated that “the efforts that the minister (Ricardo) Lewandowski (Justice and Public Security) is undertaking, in order to coordinate actions against organized crime, seeking the collaboration of the various bodies of the Brazilian State, gave an extraordinary result today.” “We are talking about three major operations that occur in 10 states of the Federation. Therefore it is a national action,” added the minister.

The two operations, although distinct, have in common the objective of dismantling money laundering schemes, with great financial impact and involvement of criminal organizations.
Haddad classified the operation as “exemplary, because she managed to reach the system coverage, upstairs.” He added that these operations also aim to ensure loyal competition among fuel market actors. “Because you end up punishing the good businessman not fighting organized crime, you end up creating an asymmetry in the market with all the consequences of what are very deleterious for the Brazilian economy.”
Operations triggered on Thursday resulted in 141 seized vehicles, 1,500 kidnapped vehicles, more than R $ 300,000 in cash, 41 individuals, 205 legal entities, blockade of more than R $ 1 billion, and total blockade of 21 investment funds, as well as kidnappings of 192 properties and 2 vessels.
