Event will be in Belo Horizonte, electoral domicile of Minister Alexandre Silveira (Minas and Energy); Model replaces GUAS allowance and reaches 16.6 million of families
The Federal Government will launch on Thursday (4.Set.2025) the Gas for All Program, which will replace the Gas Aid model. The ceremony will be at the Serra cluster, in Belo Horizonte (MG), with the presence of the President (PT) and the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira (PSD).
The event was originally scheduled for August 5 in Brasilia, but was eventually postponed by the government.
Understand
The initiative will be presented through provisional measure and is expected to reach 16.6 million families, number 3 times higher than the current gas aid, limited to 5.4 million families.
The launch event should also include announcements about the union and biomethane gas auction for decarbonization.
The new model will have a different format from the current benefit. Today, all contemplated receive the equivalent value of a 13 kg canister every 2 months, without considering the size of the family and without mandatory use for gas purchase. With gas for all, the credit will be proportional to the number of people at home and can only be used to buy the cylinder in accredited establishments.
The change eliminates the transfer in cash and guarantees direct delivery of cylinders at resale points across the country.
The beneficiary must present the box application to validate the right. According to government technicians, the new format reduces intermediation costs, expands the scope of the benefit and corrects failures from the previous model, where families received only half the value of the cylinder and could not always complete the purchase.
Will work as follows:
- The ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels) will accredit the dealers who wish to participate voluntarily in the program and will define the ceiling price at which the cylinder will be sold to the government, according to the average practiced in each region;
- The beneficiary will go every 2 months to the cooking gas dealer accredited to the program to remove the cylinder for free, informing his data registered in CadÚnico;
- The family can follow the status of the benefit, such as the release of a new cylinder and the place of withdrawal, through an application of the program being developed by Caixa – also in the application, the government will, through Caixa, make the payment to resellers of gas cylinders “bought” by the program and delivered to families.
