From the analysis of the microdates of the 2024 edition of the exam, a survey revealed that the biggest difference is between the notes of the writing test
A survey by the Sonho Grande Institute points out that students from state schools with integral high school (EMI) had general performance in the National High School Exam () 2024 higher than students from partial shift units. To be considered as an EMI school, the workload must be equal to or greater than seven hours a day or 35 hours per week.
From the analysis of the microdates of the 2024 edition of the exam, which is applied annually by the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (), the survey revealed that the biggest difference is among the notes of Enem’s writing test. On average, students from schools that offer full time had 12 more points in the discursive test, which goes from 0 to 1,000 points. The difference rises to 27 points, when considering the schools where 100% of enrollments are in full mode. Performance was also superior in mathematics and its technologies: five points more than regular schools.
Strength in the Northeast
The 2024 School Census indicates that the five largest proportions of full -time students enrolled in the public high school are in the Northeast: (69.6%); Ceará (54.6%); (54.5%); (54.1%) and (35.2%). At the other end, the (6.4%) and (8.1%) have the lowest proportions.
In the Northeast region, the schools that offer integral have higher averages in the writing test and four areas of knowledge evaluated in Enem: languages, codes and their technologies, human sciences and their technologies, nature sciences and their technologies and mathematics and their technologies.
The average of the general grade of integral education students at Enem in the region exceeds that of partial shift students at 18 points. In the writing test, this difference is 48 points.
In Pernambuco, the study indicates that students’ performance in the writing test, in the case of schools with 100% integral offer, is 68 points higher than the others. In Ceará, the difference increases to 134 points. Among the 100 Ceará High Schools with the highest grades at Enem 2024, 98 of them have full high school offer. Standard similar to what happened in Pernambuco (89 schools with EMI) and Paraíba (84 with EMI).
Greater participation in Enem
The study entitled “Effects of full -time high school on students’ educational indicators”, economists Naercio Menezes Filho and Luciano Salomão, carried out in partnership with the Natura Institute, showed that students from full -time high schools have 16.5% more participation in ENEM than the others in this survey, which takes into account data from 2017 to 2019, the grades of students in full -time schools are also higher than students Period, especially in writing, with 29 points more.
Full -time school
The Full Time School Program, launched by MEC in 2023, has the goal of registering, by the end of 2026, about 3.2 million new enrollment in this type of education at all stages of basic education. The purpose of public policy is to promote student development and improve national learning indicators.
To achieve the goal, the federal government offers technical and financial support to states and municipalities to expand full time at all stages of basic education, with educational journey equal to or greater than seven hours per day or 35 hours per week.
