Castilla y León | Time complicates the extinction of the six active fires of maximum risk
Fire extinction troops continue to fight in Castilla y León against nine fires, six of them at the maximum level of danger, some of them declared almost three weeks ago. At the highest level of risk, they are in potential severity index (IGR) 2, those of Fasgar, Anllares del Sil, La Baña, Colinas del Campo de Martín Moro Toledano and Garaño, in León, and that of Porto in Zamora. In addition, those of Llamas de Cabrera and Barniedo de la Reina, in León, and that of Cardaño above in Palencia are active.
The situation was not favorable on Wednesday afternoon and Fasgar’s fire, north of the province, near the border with Asturias, which was declared on August 8, it became outsourced by the strong gusts of wind, until it was left out of the extinction capacity of the media fighting against the flames. The wind caused the fire to break all the defenses and continue advancing.
The evolution of the rest of the fires was favorable, thanks to the drop in temperatures and the good wind behavior, so several locations in Zamora could be real. In total, there are 44 people evacuated in the community, from two locations in Zamora and one from León. Porto’s fire evolved favorably, and its three fronts were reduced to two. The fire of the bath was stabilized.
This Thursday a new low temperatures is expected, which will predictably help maintain that favorable evolution in extinction work, also increasing night humidity, but all the attention is in the wind. (EFE)
