Amid the aggravation of the diplomatic crisis between President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and Israeli award Binyamin Netanyahu, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), decided to send his secretary of the Civil House, Arthur Lima, to an official mission in Israel.
The trip was articulated by the Parliamentary Front in defense of the Union between Brazil and Israel, created in the São Paulo Legislative Assembly at the end of 2024 by allies of the governor. The information was anticipated by Folha de S. Paulo and confirmed by the globe. The initiative has as its backdrop one of the most delicate moments of the relationship between Brasilia and Tel Aviv, in which Lula has called the Israeli offensive genocide against the Gaza Strip.
The invitation came from the consulate of Israel in Sao Paulo and includes appointments in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, as well as visits to Hamas attacked in the attack of 7 October 2023. In addition to Lima, the Undersecretary of Diplomatic Affairs, Samio Sérgio Gonçalves Tosatti, and his advisor Bruno Berkiensztat.

The objective of the mission, according to the Civil House, is to strengthen institutional relations and promote the exchange of experiences and good practices between the Israeli and Brazilian authorities. All expenses will be aroused by the State of Israel.
The governor has taken advantage of the troubled scenario abroad to criticize the conduct of the Planalto foreign policy, especially in the face of reaction to 50% tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump to Brazilian products. Amid the impasse, Tarcisio received in Sao Paulo the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, accompanied by the first lady, Marty Kemp.
On social networks, Tarcisio pointed out that 37 Georgia companies operate today in Brazil, while 40 Brazilian companies have operations in the US state, responsible for about 12,000 jobs. “We debated the current scenario of relations between Brazil and the United States and emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy. This exchange is fundamental to consolidate partnerships that bring concrete results to São Paulo and Brazil,” he wrote.
