After gaining prominence and awards at international festivals, the Brazilian feature “The Last Blue” He entered the list of national films registered for the Oscars. In an interview with CNN, Gabriel Mascarodirector of the work, commented on the trajectory until the debut, which takes place this Thursday (28), reflecting on the strength of production.
The plot of “The Last Blue” is located in the Amazon, in a dystopian Brazil, in which the Government transfers elderly to a housing colony where they will “enjoy” their last years of life.
“The expectations are the best. We made a movie with great affection, great honesty, sincerity. I think the viewer who see the movie in the cinema will feel this sincerity. It’s a movie that talks about the right to dream, in an Amazonian dystopia with a lot of lyricism, delirium, fantasy,” she began. “A lot of joy has already been confirmed in the more than 50 festivals in the world we’ve been through. The film was distributed in 65 countries.”
According to the filmmaker, it is a “very large gift” to contribute to the Brazilian industry, making the work available to the Oscar Commission. “It is a tough mission to be able to choose who represents Brazil in the industry of the American. We what we want most is that the Brazilian is seen right now. So all this energy is also placed for people going to the cinema,” he added.
“It is a moment that we hope that this movie we made with such affection comes to people.”

“The Last Azul” was awarded the Silver Bear of the Grand Prix of the Jury, at the 75th edition of the Berlin Festival, one of the largest of the event.
The film participated in the Shanghai International Film Festivalin China, with the presence of the director, besides being the opening film of the 53rd edition of the Gramado Film Festivalat the Palace of Festivals, in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul.
“The Last Blue” also received Two awards at the Guadalajara Festival in Mexico: Best Ibero-American Fiction film and the best interpretation Maguey Award for Denise Weinberg.
