The fan of European football still tries to get used to the new Champions League format, which debuted last season, with a league phase and a recap before the traditional knockout phases. This Thursday (08/28), UEFA holds draw for the league phase of the 2025/26 edition of the tournament.
For this procedure, each team will have eight opponents drawn, two of each pot, a measure to balance the level of clashes. This desired balance is tempted through a coefficient that separates clubs, based on club performance in European competitions over the last five years.
Real Madrid, for example, champion twice in the last five years, is the team with the highest score in the UEFA coefficient, with 123.50 points.

How are the points distributed in the UEFA coefficient?
The coefficient of each country is calculated by adding the points won by the clubs that compete in the competitions of UEFA (Champions League, Europe League and Conference League).
These points are attributed by victories, draws and participation in advanced phases of competitions. Here’s the score:
