The CBF announced on Thursday (08/28) the referees who will play in the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship 2025. Catarinense referee Ramon Abatti Abel, 35, was cast to whistle the classic between Corinthians and Palmeiraswhich will be played this Sunday (08/31), at 18:30 (Brasília time), in the Neo Chemistry Arena.

The advertisement for the derby was made during live broadcast on the official CBF channel on YouTube. To date, the entity has not yet released the full list with the assistants and the referee responsible for VAR.
Ramon Abatti Abel: controversy
Ramon Abatti Abel has been the target of criticism and protests from Brazilian clubs on different occasions. This year, Cruzeiro’s executive director, Paulo Pelaipe, expressed dissatisfaction with Abatti’s choice to whistle classic against Atletico-MG, citing controversial decisions in previous games which, according to him, harmed the team. Atletico-MG also spoke out against the referee’s nomination, considering it “unhappy”.
In 2024, Flamengo protested ABATTI’s performance in a match against Palmeiras, in which a possible penalty in favor of Flamengo was not scheduled. The club questioned the referee’s interpretation, who considered contact as “minimum.”
In addition, in 2023, Abatti was criticized for his arbitration in games such as Atletico-MG X Botafogo and Atletico-MG X Flamengo, where controversial decisions generated dissatisfaction of clubs and fans.
In the international scenario, Abatti was also involved in controversy. During the 2024 Olympics, he whistled the men’s final between France and Spain. Arbitration was criticized by decisions such as the expulsion of Asensio, considered unfair by Spanish commentators, and not to revise possible penalties in favor of Spain – which despite the mishaps, was champion.
