The 8-0 defeat suffered by Vitória, against Flamengo, stirred all those involved in the club’s daily life. Rodrigo Chagas, an assistant who became interim after Carille’s resignation revealed enormous shame for the result.
According to Chagas,
“I go out every day with the club’s material to work. I didn’t come on Tuesday. I came with another shirt. I was feeling ashamed. I believe that at that moment the main factor is the psychological. You lose the way you lost any professional. Even me,” he said, before completing:
“We have to do a job of excellence with the athletes. The solution who has to give them are them. They can solve, enter, give an answer. We need to identify who the players can come in to deliver what the team needs,” he said during his presentation interview.
The result was the worst in the history of the Bahian club and also the most elastic of the Brazilian Championship since 1984. Players and even Fábio Carille, fired after the defeat, apologized to Vitória’s fans.
Rodrigo Chagas has already passed the Leão da Barra as a player and coach. Now the mission is to try to rid the team from the relegation zone while a new commander is not enough. On Saturday (30), the club receives Atletico-MG, in a match valid for the 22nd round of the National League.
