Lula and Tarcisio vie for the protagonism of megaoperation against organized crime in the country

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), possible opponents in 2026, features a protagonism dispute around Operation Operation Opening occult, considered the largest offensive against organized crime in the country. By X, Lula made a point of emphasizing that integrated work began with the creation of the Organized Crime Nucleus in the Ministry of Justice:

“The population across the country has watched today the largest response from the Brazilian state in the organized crime of our history so far. In coordinated performances that involved Federal Police, Revenue and State Public Ministries, three simultaneous operations in the financial and fuel sectors were triggered, involving 10 states. Integrated work – initiated with the creation, in the Ministry of Justice, of the Nucleus Combating Organized Crime – allowed the entire chain and to reach the financial nucleus and that supports these practices, ”said the president.

Already Tarcisio released a video on social networks saying that the action is the result of Gaeco’s work with the police of São Paulo “which expanded to all of Brazil”.

“The largest intelligence and combat operation of organized crime in the fuel sector in history, hidden carbon, was triggered this morning. Gaeco’s work with the São Paulo police that expanded throughout Brazil, placing their finger in the wound and courageously facing groups that no one had the courage to face, and until then they believed to be untouchable. Organized crime will not have time, ”said the governor.

In all 1,400 agents are serving 200 search and seizure warrants against 350 targets in ten states against the domain of the entire fuel production chain, part of which was captured by the First Capital Command (CCP). Faria Lima alone concentrates 42 of targets – companies, brokerages and investment funds – at five addresses, including some iconic buildings in the region.
