The President (PT) authorized, on Thursday (28), the opening of process for the application of the economic reciprocity law against the 50% tariff imposed by the government of Donald Trump on Brazilian products. The surcharge on Brazilian exports came into force on August 6, after Trump’s announcement in July, in a letter sent to the Brazilian government. The reciprocity law, sanctioned by Lula in April, authorizes the country to react to unilateral actions of other governments or economic blocs that impair national competitiveness.
