The MP-SP (Public Prosecution Service of the State of São Paulo) asked the court to breach Corinthians’ credit card billing during the three presidents: Andrés Sanchez (2018 to 2020), Duilio Monteiro Alves (2021 to 2023) and Augusto Melo (2024 to 2025). The invoices had been requested from the club, but were not delivered to MP-SP, which pointed to delay and disorganization in compliance with the requests.
The agency, then, formalized the request to the DIPO (Department of Police Inquiries), of the TJ-SP (Court of Justice of São Paulo). He was received and referred to one of the tax crime courts, criminal organization and washing of the state’s assets and values. There has been no decision yet on the request.
The investigation investigates the possible misuse of the club’s corporate credit cards. The investigation is around the alleged crimes of aggravated misappropriation, theft qualified by the competition of agents, abuse of trust and/or estelionate, ideological falsehood and criminal association.
The prosecutor’s request also includes the breach of the secrecy of the mini -market invoices. There is a suspicion that the company, which issued notes to Corinthians, is a façade.
In his request, the MP-SP pointed out that he had made the invoice request to the club, but bumped into “administrative disorganization, club’s inertia and theft and suppressions of some documents.”
In a statement, Corinthians stated that “President Osmar Stabile’s management will collaborate with prosecutors whenever requested.” Stabile was vice president of Augusto Melo and assumed the presidency after his departure-Melo suffered impeachment this month, and Stabile himself was elected by the Deliberative Council to complete the mandate until December 2026.
Sought by SheetAndrés Sanchez said he is in favor of the MP’s request: “You have to break it”. Cartola has already publicly acknowledged that he improperly used one of Corinthians’ cards and said he had made due reimbursement.
In a statement, lawyer Fernando José da Costa, who represents Andrés, added that “the defense reiterates its full confidence in justice and its willingness to collaborate fully with the competent authorities.” “At the appropriate time, all the necessary clarifications and documents will be presented to demonstrate the complete regularity of its administration as president of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista,” says the text.
The report tried to contact Duilio Monteiro Alves, but got no return. Augusto Melo did not answer the questions until the publication of this text.
In a recent interview with UOL, Duilio said: “There is a great confusion, a lot of people saying that they were spent made by me. It’s good to make it clear that there are no note, no signature, no purchase approval in my name.”
In a statement released earlier this month, Augusto Melo’s defense stated that “the São Paulo prosecutor’s investigation will be very beneficial to Corinthians, and including the corporate management card will be great, which serves as an example.” “That this is investigated, punishable who should be punished because Corinthians deserves to be cleaned,” Melo added in the statement.
