Princess Diana's time capsule unearthed in London. It was not supposed to have been opened

Diana de Wales, The Princess of the People

More than 30 years after being buried, a time capsule compiled by Diana, Princess of Wales, was opened prematurely by accident while building a children’s cancer center. It represented life in the 1990s and should only be opened within “hundreds of years”.

It was discovered at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, a time capsule of the 1990s, buried by Princess Diana.

This treasure, buried together with two childrencontained a representation of life in the 1990s.

According to, there was a Kylie Minogue CD, a solar -powered calculator, a passport, a pocket television, a snowflake hologram and a Diana’s photography.

The treasure was supposed to be opened only “in hundreds of years”but was unearthed by accident during excavations to build a children’s cancer center.

The lead -coated wooden box was sealed in 1991 to mark the placement of the first stone of the Variety Club building of Great Ormond Street Hospital, which opened in 1994 to replace old buildings and clinical facilities.

Diana became president of the Children’s Hospital in 1989 and visited it several times before her death in 1997. It helped the two children select the items to put in the time capsule.

David Watson11, chose a CD from the album Rhythm of Love from Kylie Minogue, a sheet of recycled paper and a passport. Sylvia FoulkesAt the age of 9, he chose a collection of British coins, a container with five tree seeds and the snowflake hologram.

The box also included a Copy of Times from the capsule funeral date.

As The Guardian quotes, headlines on the first page include: “cooked meats attract mass Soviet voters,” along with a photograph of former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbatchov, and “USA reject Iraqi war airplanes as rebels approach.”

Employees born in 1991 or who worked at the hospital in 1991 helped remove the capsule before the construction of the children’s cancer center.

Now this place will be a national center for the treatment of children’s cancers and will help develop milder and more effective treatments for children.

Next Sunday (31), 28 years have been fulfilled since Diana’s death.
