The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Business Manager of the Embassy of Russia in Spain to protest against the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine, which has cost the lives of at least 24 civil fatal victims in kyiv. There are a fifty wounded, in addition.
“Two missiles impacted 50 meters from the delegation in an interval of 20 seconds. This is another gloomy reminder of what is at stake,” said the president of the European Commission (EC) on Thursday, in a brief statement to the press without questions.
The president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, before taking this measure of diplomatic pressure, denounced in social networks Russian bombings in kyiv, for being a “flagrant violation of international law.”
The president of Ukraine, has thanked Sánchez’s support in another message to this new Russian aerial offensive, the most serious about the Ukrainian capital in recent months and that no military or government infrastructure had in the target: the affected buildings are residential, a nursery, a shopping center and the writing of a local newspaper, in addition to the EU offices.
Search and rescue work continues in the area this Friday, so it is not ruled out that the number of victims rises in the next few hours. The governor of kyiv, Timur Tkachenko, has confirmed via Telegram that among those killed there are four children, one of them just two years (data also confirmed by the UN agency for childhood, UNICEF).
“Now our services focus on helping the population,” he added, before indicating that so far damage has been recorded in at least 225 residential buildings, as well as garages, courtyards and public buildings, so that more than twenty families will need to be relocated.
Putin’s real face
The NATO general secretary, said Thursday that the attack perpetrated last night by the Russian army in kyiv shows that “we cannot be naive regarding Russia” and that Ukraine must “have what he needs to defend herself” and ensure “a lasting peace.”
“The terrible attacks last night against kyiv, which caused the death of so many innocent civilians, demonstrate once again that we cannot be naive with respect to Russia,” said the NATO secretary general through social networks.
In the midst of attempts for one that leads to the end of the war, Routte requested last week from kyiv “solid guarantees” to prevent Russia from invading the country again, which includes that the Ukrainian army be reinforced.
The United States has offered air support and its intelligence services, but at the moment it continues to rule out the sending of peace troops. Neither has its president left, to value kyiv’s attack.
