Zeca da Flour wins with the biggest cassava at the Flour Festival in Cruzeiro do Sul

Rural producer José Oliveira do Nascimento, better known as Zeca da Farinha, from the municipality of Mâncio Lima, was once again featured at the Cruzeiro do Sul Flour Festival. Recognized for his consecutive achievements, he accumulates awards in different categories of competition: Best Flour, Best Derivatives, Greater Macaxeira and heavier cassava.

With three years in a row of victories, Zeca explains that her secret is in investing in knowledge and genetic improvement of the maniva. “The way to plant is the same, but the differential is improvement. I have been developing this quality of cassava for four years. Only I have because I study and research it,” he said.

Even without direct support from City Hall in production, the farmer continues to bet on his own resources to maintain his work. It reinforces, however, the importance of the festival as a showcase for the recognition of producers. “The Flour Festival is the space where we can show the value of our work. I can’t afford to publicize alone, but thanks to the press we can present what we produce,” he said.

For Zeca, each edition is a new opportunity for overcoming. “One year earned with the heaviest, the other with the largest. Next year, I will definitely compete again and seek another victory,” said the farmer, who has already become a reference in cassava cultivation in the Juruá Valley.
