The Minister of Mines and Energy, again signaled that he can compete in the 2026 elections, conditioning his candidacy for the president’s endorsement (PT). “Where the president climb this player will play, because the most important thing next year is to continue with President Lula, president of Brazil,” he said during a project announcement event of the new PAC. Silveira has repeated the same answer whenever asked about the 2026 election. On Thursday (28), in an interview with Record MG, Lula stated that former Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) would form an “unbeatable duo” with the mayor of Contagem, Marília Lopes (PT), in a possible dispute by the government of Minas Gerais.
Although he already appears in research for the Senate, Alexandre Silveira has not yet confirmed if he will be a candidate and there is no definite agreement on his political future. This Friday (29), the minister also confirmed the launch of the program “Gas do Povo”, a new model of gas aid that aims to benefit 15.5 million people.
