More than 400 pounds of cocaine base paste, valued at about $ 80 million, were incinerated on Friday afternoon (29), after authorization from the Federal Court.
The destruction of the material complied with a joint request from the PF (Federal Police) and the MPF (Federal Public Prosecution Service), due to the risk of criminal rescue and logistical costs for safe storage.
The drug was seized at dawn on Friday (29), after one, in southern Pará.
According to the PF, the incineration followed the procedure provided for in the Drug Law (Law No. 11.343/2006), which determines the preservation only of a sample for definitive expertise.
In addition to the destruction of cocaine, the court authorized the expertise of electronic equipment found on the CP2905 prefix plane, including a geolocation device, a satellite data receiving antenna and a radio transmitter.
For the MPF, these materials are considered crucial to tracking clandestine airlines, clues used by the criminal organization and identify their members.
Operation in southern Pará
The seizure was made by the 30th Independent Company of the Military Police (CIPM) of Santana do Araguaia, after workers from a farm reported a forced landing in pasture area.
Inside the plane, 430 cocaine base paste tablets were found, totaling approximately 424kg, as well as gallons of fuel and false numbers, indicating adulteration of the aircraft.
Images made by farm officials suggest that the initial load could exceed 500 kg, which in the illegal market would represent up to $ 200 million in profit.
Fugitive crew
According to witnesses, two men who partially spoken Portuguese fled toward the woods shortly after forced landing. They are still at large. The drug and equipment were transported to Redemption, under a strong security scheme, and delivered to the Federal Police, which coordinates investigations into the case.
The Federal Police are still investigating to identify those responsible for the aircraft and the illicit load.
