On Saturday, the President of the International Red Cross Committee (MVČK) condemned Israel’s plans for the mass evacuation of the city of Gaza before his military occupation, saying that such an evacuation cannot be safely carried out. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.

“Under the current conditions, it is not possible for the mass evacuation of the city of Gaza to be carried out in a safe and dignified way,” said the festival in a statement.

The plan of the Israeli army for the evacuation of the city of Gaza before his military cast was also described as “not only impossible but also incomprehensible”.

“Such an evacuation would trigger a massive movement of the population that can not absorb any area in the Gaza Strip due to the extensive destruction of civil infrastructure and extreme lack of food, water, shelter and medical care,” said Kaltjaričová.

Her statements came after the Israeli army declared on Friday the city of Gaza as a “dangerous combat zone”. The Israeli army did not call for an immediate evacuation, but its spokesman Avičaj ADRAI said on Wednesday that the evacuation of the city is “necessary”.

Israel is under increasing pressure at home and abroad to end the devastating offensive in Gaza, where the vast majority of the population was displaced at least once and where the United Nations declared famine, recalls AFP.

Civilians have had extensive trauma

The UN estimates that nearly a million people are currently living in Gaza Goverora with Gaza, which includes the city of Gaza and its surroundings in the north of the territory. Femjaričová said that any evacuation order “would be imposed on civilians who are already traumatized by the months of fighting and frightened from what could come on”.

“Many are unable to comply with evacuation orders because they are starving, sick, injured or suffering from physical disabilities,” she said, adding that “all civilians are protected by international humanitarian law, whether they leave or stay at home and must be allowed to return home.

Kemjaričová stressed that “international humanitarian law requires Israel to do everything when issuing an evacuation commands to ensure that civilians have satisfactory housing, hygiene, health, safety and nutritional conditions and that families are not distributed”.

“These conditions cannot be met in Gaza at present,” she added. At the same time, it has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire and stated that “any further escalation of the conflict will only lead to further deaths, destruction and displacement”.
