Former President of the Ukrainian Parliament is shot dead

(UOL/Folhapress) – Former Ukrainian Parliament President Andriy Parubiy, 54, was murdered on Saturday (30) in LVIV, Ukraine.

Parubiy was shot dead around 12pm local time (6 am Brasília). The circumstances of the murder have not been disclosed so far.

Suspect would be dressed as a postman and wearing an electric bike, according to preliminary information. It has not been identified and a search operation is performed with local and national police forces.

Politician led the Ukrainian Parliament between 2016 and 2019. He was a historian and lived in LVIV, a city near the border with Poland.

He gained prominence by being one of the Euroquadra leaders, a movement that advocated the creation of narrower ties with the European Union. This movement was responsible for the overthrow of former Pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych in 2014.

“Terrible murder,” says Zelensky. In a publication on social networks, the president of Ukraine confirmed the death of the former parliamentarian and sent condolences to the Parubiy family.
